Noke Smart Access FAQ

What are Noke Smart Technology Locks? Noke Smart Tech Locks are Bluetooth-enabled electronic locks used across select Storage Rentals of America facilities. They let you enter the facility and access your storage unit directly from your smartphone through the Noke app — no gate codes or physical keys required. You’ll also receive notifications if your lock is tampered with or accessed, giving you added peace of mind.

Can I still use padlocks after the Bluetooth locks are installed? What if the lock breaks? No, physical padlocks are not needed or compatible with the Noke ONE Smart Lock system. The Noke system uses encrypted digital passcodes and has passed rigorous cybersecurity testing. Even if someone attempts to damage the lock or latch, the system is designed to stay secure and prevent entry.

Will SROA staff have access to my unit since there is no physical padlock? SROA personnel cannot access rented units for any reason other than those outlined in the lease agreement. Access is only possible when a unit enters auction status due to extended non-payment. Even if a unit is overlocked, staff cannot enter an active rental unit for liability reasons.

What if I do not have a smartphone? Although we encourage all tenants to use their smart phone to access their unit, at some locations you may be able to purchase, during office hours, a Bluetooth key fob can be purchased for a small fee. The fob functions like a keychain and allows you to unlock your unit and facility entry points with a simple press of a button.

What happens if I get a new phone? Download the_ Storage Smart Entry by Noke_ app on your new device and sign in using your existing mobile number or email along with your current password. Your account information and unit access will automatically transfer.

How do I access my unit? Does the app need my location? Tap the LED light on your Noke Smart Lock to wake it, then open the Storage Smart Entry app on your phone. You’ll need Wi-Fi or cellular signal for authentication. Once the lock is active, tap your highlighted unit icon in the app to open your unit. The app uses your phone’s location services to confirm you’re physically at the facility before allowing entry. Make sure Location is enabled while using the app.

Is there an extra fee to use the Noke Smart Lock? Yes. After your free trial ends, a recurring $5.99 per month Smart Tech Lock Fee will appear on your bill.

Can I grant someone else access to my unit? Yes. Through the Noke app, you can share digital access with family or trusted contacts and revoke it at any time.

What if my phone battery dies or I lose access to the app? Contact our facility team right away. We’ll assist with next steps and, depending on the location, may provide an alternate temporary option.

Will the lock work during a power outage? Yes. Noke locks run on battery power and continue functioning independently of facility power, even during an outage.

What should I do if the Noke Smart Access app doesn’t load inside the building? Before entering the building, open and load the Storage Smart Entry by Noke app to ensure it’s synced. Some buildings may have limited cellular service, so it’s best to have the app ready before you go inside.
