City Information
About Mangonia Park, FL
Lovely Mangonia Park is a small community just five miles north of West Palm Beach on the I-95. This community is part of the Greater Miami Metropolitan Area of Palm Beach County. The U.S. 2020 Census counted 2,142 people living there. Its most attractive feature is the 540-acre Lake Mangonia.
The town came into being in 1947 when the founders asked the state to register the name of “Town of Magnolia Park.” The state denied the request because there was already a town by that name. The clever founders created a new name based on the many mango orchards in the area at that time and invented a new word, “Mangonia”. So, that’s how the town got its unusual name.
Little did the founders know at that time that when this little town grew up, all the mango groves would be replaced by residences and condo buildings. Acres of that mango orchard, which could be bought for a few dollars in the 1940s, are now worth millions!
