Getting Started with Noke
What are Noke Smart Tech Locks?
Noke Smart Tech Locks are Bluetooth-enabled locks available at select Storage Rentals of America locations. You can unlock your storage unit and enter the facility using your smartphone through the Noke app — no gate codes or padlocks needed. You’ll also get alerts if your lock is tampered with for added peace of mind.
Is there a fee to use the Noke Smart Lock?
Yes. After your free trial, a $5.99 Smart Tech Lock Fee will appear on your monthly bill.
Do I need a padlock?
No. Noke Smart Locks replace traditional padlocks and use encrypted digital access for security. The system has been thoroughly tested for cybersecurity and tamper resistance.
Do SROA staff have access to my unit?
No. Our team cannot access rented units unless a unit enters auction status due to non-payment, as outlined in the lease.
Using the App and Accessing Your Unit
How do I access my unit?
Tap the light on your Noke lock to wake it, open the app, and tap your unit icon to unlock. The app uses your phone’s location to confirm you’re at the facility before allowing access.
Can I share access with someone else?
Yes. You can easily grant or revoke digital access in the Noke app for family or trusted contacts.
Why should I open the app before entering the building?
Some storage buildings have limited cellular service, which may prevent the Storage Smart Entry by Noke app from connecting once you’re inside. To ensure seamless access, open and load the app before entering the facility. This allows your phone to sync with the system, so your gate and unit unlock without interruption.
What if I get a new phone?
Download the Storage Smart Entry by Noke app on your new phone and sign in with your existing account. Your access will automatically sync.
What if I don’t have a smartphone?
Although we encourage all tenants to use their smart phone to access their unit, at some locations you may be able to purchase, during office hours, a Bluetooth key fob for a small fee. It works like a keychain and unlocks your unit with a single press.
Troubleshooting and Support
What if my phone battery dies or I lose access?
Contact your facility team for assistance. They can help restore access or provide an alternative temporary option.
Will the lock work during a power outage?
Yes. Noke Smart Locks are battery-powered and continue to function even if facility power is out.
