Back To Index

Rocky Mount began as a small town that was centered around the first post office in the area. This small city is located in both Nash and Edgecombe counties. Because of the city's investment into its local culture and natural beauty, it is a two-time recipient of the All America City Award.

In 2018, Rocky Mount North Carolina also ranked 6th in the Forbes list of "best small places for business and careers". It is the flagship city of the Rocky Mount Metropolitan Area and has lots of people who have careers in administrative support, sales, and education.

There are also plenty of fun things to experience around the year. Residents enjoy live entertainment for part of the year at the city's "Downtown Live!" event, the annual BBQ Throw Down, and a variety of events indoors hosted at indoor Rocky Mount Event Center.

When families are not enjoying the city's excellent parks and recreation, they enjoy other family-friendly activities like visiting the Children's Museum and Science Center or the Planetarium. Living here is also more affordable compared to other areas of the nation. Here are some great family neighborhoods in the city.
