About Hartsville, SC
Located in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, Hartsville is the largest town in Darlington County. Travelers can reach Hartsville from I-20 and I-95. Hartsville is an ethnically diverse college town with a population of 7,764 (2020 U.S. Census). Due to the number of students in the area, Hartsville offers several amenities geared towards students.
Hartsville's visitors center, 'The Key,' is located at 106 East Carolina Blvd., next to City Hall.

History and Museums
The Hartsville Museum features exhibits on local history as well as art exhibits. The building was originally a post office built during the 1930s. In 2000, an outdoor sculpture courtyard was added. Admission is free. Across the street from the museum, The Edition is available for events, parties, and meetings.
Edventure Hartsville, a satellite location of South Carolina's Edventure Children's Museum, is located in downtown Hartsville.
Other historic landmarks include the John L Hart House, The Thomas E Hart House at Kalmia Gardens, the Hartsville Passenger Station, and Pride Park.
Recreation and Exercise
Hartsville is home to six parks, including the Byerly Park Recreation Complex. Byerly Park sits on 93 acres and includes an indoor sports center with fitness equipment, exercise classes, an indoor track, and an indoor basketball court. Outdoors, the park features baseball, football, and soccer fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, picnic areas, and a 1.2-mile walking trail. The Born Learning Trail provides early-literacy play features for very young children.
Hartsville is also home to a branch of the YMCA of Upper Pee Dee, which offers a teen center, indoor pool, track, fitness equipment, and fitness classes.
